The first DIFC Fintech Week 2022 was attended by Amazon Payment Services, a Middle East and North African (MENA) leader in digital payments. The DIFC Fintech Week, a thought-leadership conference, delved deeply into the most recent prospects, difficulties, and technological developments influencing the region’s financial services industry.

The “Startup Pitch Competition” was held by Amazon Payment Services at DIFC Fintech Week. Industry innovators and entrepreneurs presented their company concepts to a panel of top Amazon Payment Services executives. The winning team then continued their conversation with the Amazon Payment Services team to discuss new business prospects.

Amazon Payment Services also launched its “DIFC Fintech Week Offer,” which is available only to new companies who join up during the event, in order to support companies of all sizes. With this offer, brand-new companies may benefit from 0% transaction costs up to a value of USD 54,451 and quick onboarding assistance from a dedicated account manager.

Executives from Amazon Payment Services engaged in talks with MENA-based fintech pioneers, entrepreneurs, businesses, investors, and politicians throughout the event. The main topic of discussion was how to properly and safely incorporate digital currencies into the region’s existing payment alternatives in order to improve efficiency and provide customers and companies in the region with more options.

“As the payment environment continues to change, we remain focused on examining the potential role that digital currencies might play in payments,” said Peter George, managing director of Amazon Payment Services. Fast, secure, and affordable payments will be made possible by new technologies, and we hope to play a role in this future by enhancing ease and choice for both businesses and their clients. Under the direction of Arif Amiri, CEO of the DIFC Authority, we are thrilled to see DIFC promoting innovation around the future of fintech, and we look forward to expanding our partnership with them through the DIFC Innovation Hub.

During the conference, Mohamad Imtiyaz, Head of Business Development for Amazon Dubai.  Payment Services delivered a Tech Talk session outlining how innovation in payment services could pave the way for digital payments. During DIFC Fintech Week 2022, Srinath Hariharan, Head of Product Management for Amazon Payment Services, also took part in a panel discussion about the development of “Buy Now, Pay Later” and its effects on both businesses and their clients.
